We are pleased to announce that Mr. Napoleon Sykes Jr. is joining Concordia Prep as the Director of Diversity and Inclusion.

In addition to working with students on campus, Mr. Sykes will be a member of the administrative team serving both the Office of Admissions and Athletic Department as well as assisting with college counseling. He will be available to assist all academic departments and faculty in both the upper and middle school.

Mr. Sykes will create a Diversity and Inclusion team of teachers and administrators in both the upper and middle schools to serve as advocates for students of color on campus. He will create a team of students from all grades that will serve as a sounding board for the student body as well as develop a mentoring program with upper and middle school students.

Mr. Sykes is a Baltimore native, graduate of the Gilman School and Wake Forest University, where he majored in English while playing linebacker as a member of the football team. He has spent the last 15 years building a career in coaching at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, which has provided him a wealth of knowledge in interpersonal communication skills. At each stop, he has been involved in building programs that help bridge the gap between athletics and academics, programs that serve the surrounding communities, as well as programs that help to build a strong culture and community on campus. Not only will Mr. Sykes serve as an in-house advocate for our students, but he will also establish various programs and initiatives that will build upon our ongoing effort to create a more diverse and inclusive environment at Concordia Prep.

Mr. Sykes is married to Christy Williams, and they have two boys, Bodhi and Noah. They currently reside in Arnold, Maryland.
