From the Headmaster: Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Moore Longenecker Named Director of the Giguere Program

I am excited to announce that Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Moore Longenecker has been named the Director of the Giguere Program. She will begin her tenure on July 15, 2020. Ms. Longenecker brings over six years of academic and executive function coaching and her love of learning to Concordia Prep. Mrs. Longenecker holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Economics from American University. She is presently matriculating toward a Master’s of Education from the University of Missouri. She has completed training from both the Academy of Orton-Gillingham, which is a century-old academic intervention curriculum that addresses dyslexia by teaching students to decode language in a systematic way and Lindamood-Bell, a private academic support company, in reading comprehension strategies.

After over 10 years working as an environmental science consultant, Ms. Longenecker returned to school to pursue her passion for helping students with learning differences. As a private tutor throughout Baltimore and Harford Counties, she has worked with students in a variety of public and private schools from first grade through college, specializing in middle and upper school student support. This spring, in addition to her tutored students, she worked at McDonogh Middle School Learning Center as a long-term substitute. She is experienced in a variety of virtual learning platforms and is prepared to and capable of supporting Concordia Prep students in the classroom or online in our summer camps and the fall return to school.

When she is not working or spending time with family, friends, and her three dogs, Ms. Longenecker enjoys jogging and kayaking, traveling, and reading. She is a native of Harford County and a John Carroll School graduate.

We are hosting a meeting for all Giguere families (likely virtually) on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 6:30 pm to meet the new director.

Attendance at the Giguere Summer Camp is required for all new students and recommended for returning students. Please mark your calendar for the following dates. Information will be sent to all Giguere families in July.

  • Upper School Camp: Monday, August 3 – Thursday, August 6.

  • Middle School Camp: Monday, August 10 – Thursday, August 13.
